Frequently asked questions

  • Nope! South Carolina and North Carolina are direct access states, meaning you do not need a referral from another provider in order to receive care from a physical therapist. We are trained as first-access providers - meaning we can determine if your condition will improve with physical therapy and will help get you to the right provider if we're not it.

Some insurance companies and physical therapy clinics still require referrals, which can increase the amount of time before you are seen and the overall cost of your care.  Schedule a free phone consultation to discuss if you think you might need to see your physician or need imaging first. If you do have a referral already, you can see ANY provider you want...regardless of any specific clinic or provider mentioned. Give us a call!

  • We are an out-of-network provider, meaning we do not bill your insurance.

We chose this model because the current healthcare system places too many restrictions on therapists, making it impossible to provide the best care to reach your unique goals. This often looks like providers treating multiple patients at once, for a shorter period of time than appropriate, which decreases the quality of care. Furthermore, many insurance companies will deny the performance-based treatments and dry needling that [Re]Living Performance delivers. You deserve better than allowing an insurance company to dictate your care.

We are happy to prepare a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.

  • Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions. You may already know some of the answers:

    • Do I have a deductible? How much is it? How much of my deductible have I already met?

    • What are my physical therapy benefits?

    • What is my out-of-network percentage of coverage?

    • Do I need a written referral from my doctor?

    • Do I need prior authorization before I start physical therapy?

    • Is there a special form I need in order to be reimbursed? Where do I send this?

  • Your physical therapist will sit down with you and listen to your current issue(s) and past history. Then, they will perform a comprehensive movement assessment and partner with you to create a plan and reach your unique goals.

Wear workout or other comfortable clothing that allows you to move. Shorts are ideal if you are seeing us for a lower body issue. A tank top or sports bra that allows access to your neck and shoulder blades is ideal if you are coming in for a shoulder or neck issue.
